ThomasParticipantQUOTE (Matt @ Feb 6 2010, 09:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Can I see tiny scales on in the area in front of the anus Thomas?
Good question Matt…could be, but I will try to make better picsThomas
ThomasParticipantI can Matt, but maybe it could take some time, they are not often at the front glass.
looking at fishbase.org, Balitora kwangsiensis is a synonym to Sinohomaloptera kwangsiensis (is this right?). And the pics of the sinos I’ve found don’t really match with my loaches. http://fishbase.de/Photos/PicturesSummary….es&TotRec=3
I don’t have the laosbook so can’t look inside itLast night Charles/Torso send me a link to a fish from Saigonaquarium.com that fits very good -> http://saigonaquarium.com/SHOWIMAGES/Homaloptera%20sp.JPG this should be the right loaches with the wrong name
ThomasParticipantQUOTE (mickthefish @ Feb 5 2010, 08:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>any idea where they were exported from Thomas????.mick
Oh, forgotten, they are from vietnam, more precise I can’t say it.They have very small scales and looks therefore very slippy. The pics I have seen from Balitora shows more rough Loaches. But of course I could be wrong.
Sadly they are very skinny, but I’m glad that they eat. At the moment I’m not sure if I can keep them alive but hope dies last!
ThomasParticipantNow it’s your turn Charles, let them grow and show us how they change their appearance.
ThomasParticipantIndeed Matt
ThomasParticipant/rolleyes.gif” style=”vertical-align:middle” emoid=”” border=”0″ alt=”rolleyes.gif” /> I’ve searched a bit on loaches.com and found…a blueface http://www.loaches.com/species-index/photo…nga_05.jpg/view maybe it has really only to do with the light.
I wonder if it has been better to buy some of the Lepdiocephalus macrochir on Saturday… uglier but easy to determine
ThomasParticipantit’s me again,
I’ve turns the light out and take a photo. With the flash light the blueish comes a bit through. In 2005 I’ve seen here in a shop a shipment full of this “blueheadpangio”. In the shop tanks the blue heads were easy to see, but I bought none and couldn’t say what would happens at home with the heads. I also don’t know which lamps the shop use.
I don’t know if this really important
ThomasParticipant
ThomasParticipantI don’t know Matt. First I meant I’ve got this: http://www.loaches.com/species-index/pangio-unknown-1 but now I’ unsure, my have colored pectorals, this differs them from the similar P. oblonga and the “panda” in the link. And the colour of the barbels is the same from the dark bars on the head, the panda coolie has brighter barbels, and my oblonga also. Less or more
But the behaviour is exactly the same as I know it from P. oblonga. Not very shy
ThomasParticipantQUOTEThe caudal-fin patterning is fantastic!
ThomasParticipantThanks Matt, it looks like the male has a bit red in caudale and the female beneath don’t. I wonder is it really a coloured fin or something else?
My old anguillaris male has a bit similar elongated pectorals but of course I haven’t such a good photo of it. But you can see the thickened ray
ThomasParticipantI can wait
ThomasParticipantMatt, thanks for sharing, this is a very nice Schistura!
Is there even a pic of the new Pangio?Bye,
Thomas
ThomasParticipantHi Mick and Matt,
yes, first I thought they have Misgurnus in the same tank, but no, it was the same species but really huge. It’s a pitty that I don’t take some of the biggest.
It could be an undescribed species of course.
Thomas
ThomasParticipantI’ve no better idea Matt.
