pathogen

Any agent causing disease or infection, especially a bacterium, virus, or other microorganism.

Organism that can be seen only with the aid of a microscope. Typically unicellular, e.g., baceria, protozoa, some algae.
quarantine
Period of isolation, often enforced post-import or purchase of new fish(es) in aquaria, in order to prevent transmission of pathogens or parasites.
