Colouration formed by deposition of pigments in tissues or cells.

albino
A person or animal lacking or deficient in normal pigmentation due to an absence of melanin. Albino animals typically possess red eyes, unlike leucistic forms which typically have normally-coloured eyes.
countershading
Form of camouflage in which an organism possesses darker pigmentation on the parts of the body exposed to light and paler on those normally shaded. Many fishes are coloured darker dorsally and lighter ventrally for this purpose.
peritoneum
Membranous sac lining the abdominal cavity, the pigmentation of which is sometimes used in identification of fish larvae.
