Aphyosemion rectogoense RADDA & HUBER, 1977

Etymology

Aphyosemion: from the Greek aphúe (Gr. ἀφύη), meaning ‘a small fish’, and semeion (Gr. σημεῖον), meaning ‘banner, flag’, in reference to the “ornamented, often lyre-shaped” caudal fin in male individuals of genus members.

rectogoense: etymology not explained, but appears to be a combination of the Latin participle rectus, meaning ‘correct, proper’ and the specific epithet ogoense (presumably taken from the congeneric species A. ogoense). Apparently, the first author Radda may have initially misidentified A. rectogoense as A. ogoense.
